“The hotel renewal to inherit and cultivate the culture born from water”
This is a renewal project of the SUPER HOTEL Ogaki station store located at Ogaki city, Gifu prefecture.
Ogaki city, located at the north-west region of the Nobi Plain, is watered by the first-class rivers including Kiso River and Nagara River. It is the area in which the architectural forms, such as Mizu-ya* structure and a culture derived from various styles of water such as in Kimasu (wooden square cup) and dye goods, have been formed during a history as the town of water.
The main theme of this renewal is set as a merge of this culture unique in this area with the concept of “Lohas” posted by the SUPER HOTEL through re-designing it.
This, in addition to various approaches as an eco-first business enterprise, will change this hotel to become a facility situated at the critical position to inherit Ogaki’s uniquely formed culture as well as to cultivate this culture that keeps diminishing.
It is aiming at the renewal that offers a one-and-only experience which is specific in this Ogaki area for visitors staying in the SUPER HOTEL Ogaki station for both pleasure and business purposes.
* Typical architecture in this water-rich fluvial region to cope with water, including high rising dry-stone wall, channels or river boat racks under house eaves.
