「 井戸端話がはじまるようないつもの場所 」
西明石駅前に新築されたクリニックビルの5Fに計画した糖尿病 内科である。 私たちは糖尿病内科という専門性からデザインの着想ができな いかと考えた。 この場所にいらっしゃる患者様は皆同じ悩みを持ち、先生や看護 師の方々に相談をしに来られます。 そこで患者様同士が悩み事を共有し互いに共感できるような場に ならないかと考えた。
私たちは少し前の日本の路地裏をイメージした。 路地裏は移動動線としての場以上に、地域のコミュニティの場と して成り立ち そこで子供が遊び、様々な年齢層の方々が井戸端話を行う場で あった。 なごやかでリラックスしたこの場の空気をこのクリニックで表現す ることで 患者様がリラックスして集まり相談や話ができる場になるのでは ないかと考えた。
井戸端話が行われる路地を作るために、私たちは受付や診察室 などを建物と見立て、
複雑に蛇行する動線をあえて作った。 蛇行する路地には様々な場ができ、人が滞在する様々な場所が 出来上がる。 そこで各々場所を選びながら患者様同士が話をしたり看護師さ んに相談をしたり 自然と悩み事を相談できるような場所の作り方を提案した。
建物に見立てた各機能部屋はすね高までは建物の基礎のよう にコンクリートで土台を作りその上の壁には温かみのあるタイル を用いた。
この場所で同じ悩みを持つ方々がコミュニティを形成し、自然と悩 み事を共有し話が始まるような場をイメージした。

”A casual hangout where a friendly chat is just a moment away”
We designed this diabetes clinic on the fifth floor of a new medical clinic building near Nishi-Akashi Station.
We thought about what kind of design we could create from the starting point of the specialized position of a diabetes clinic.
All of the patients who come to the clinic would be facing the same problems, so we decided to create a space where they could consult with doctors and nurses and they could share their troubles with other patients, who could lend them a sympathetic ear.
That’s how we came up with the idea of one of the Japanese back streets of yesteryear.
Back streets weren’t simply means of reaching destinations, they were also local community spaces. They’re where children played and people of all ages gathered to chat.
We decided to recreate this peaceful and warm atmosphere inside the clinic, so patients could relax and chat with others.
To produce this conversation-friendly back street feel, we looked at the reception area and consultation rooms as buildings and intentionally created movement lines that wound between them.
Winding back streets are home to all kinds of spaces where people gather and hang out.
That’s why our design proposal had various places for patients to chat with each other or consult with nurses, discussing their issues in a natural and organic manner.
For the walls of the clinic’s functional rooms, which represent buildings along the back street, we created shin-high concrete bases, like building foundations, and above that covered the walls with warm wall tiling.
Our concept was to produce the kind of space where people with the same problems would form a community, naturally striking up conversations as they shared their concerns.
