敷地は眼下に海を望むことのできる高台で、13mの高低差があり、緑豊かで海風が吹き上げる心地の良い環境である。私たちはこの敷地の特性を生かし建築を立体的に構成することによって、それぞれの場所がつながりながらも単独で存在し、様々なシーンを楽しむことができる週末住宅としてのあり方を模索した。

この建築は、平日は都会でアクティブに仕事をなさる施主様が、休日に利用される週末住宅である。別荘と異なり週末の度に利用されるため、住まいとしての機能を満たすことはもちろん、都会では得ることの難しい直接的でダイナミックな自然の移ろいを楽しめること、そして日々の疲れを癒す静寂の時間を得ることの両方が求められた。

私たちは高低差のある敷地に対して3枚のスラブを用意した。
各々に屋上テラス・メインルーム・アウトドアリビングなど主たる用途を持たせ、
同じ建築に居ながらも異なるアクティビティーを異なるレベルで楽しむことができる空間を目指した。そしてこの3枚のスラブを、　縦に細長い10mの吹き抜けのあるコアで繋ぐことにより、スラブ同士を物理的に繋ぐ役割を果たすと同時に、重力換気の装置としても機能し快適な室内空間をもたらす。また、各スラブを繋ぐバッファーゾーンとしての役割を果たすため、極端に空間をスケールアウトさせ、心理的余白を生み出す空間とした。

構造は、斜面地に対応するためにRCの高基礎を兼ねた地下空間の上に、木造フレームを設けた構成である。木造フレームは大開口を設けたい箇所へ門型フレーム構法を採用し、在来木造構造とのハイブリッドとした。

斜面地においてそこから得られる景色と、庭いじりなど直接的な大地との関係の両方を得るために設けたレベル違いのスラブは、それぞれを繋ぐスケールアウトしたコアによって機能が与えられ一つの建築として成立している。

週末住宅というタイプの建築は別荘や宿泊施設と異なり、機能的な生活も求められる。
私たちはその回答として複数枚のスラブによってそれぞれの目的を分断し単独配置を行い、
それを環境調整機能を持たせた縦方向に伸びるコアによってそっと繋げることを導き出した。

The site features a 13m elevation that allows you to view the sea below, and is a comfortable environment with breezes that blow up from the sea and an abundance of greenery.
We have searched for the ideal form for a weekend residence by bringing out the characteristics of the site in the composition of the structure so that it can be a place where a variety of scenes can be enjoyed and that can exist independently while also being a connection of different parts.

This structure is a weekend residence for use by the client on their days off – as a break from their busy weekday work schedule in the city.
As it’s used regularly on weekends, unlike a vacation house, the structure is not only required to fulfill the function of a residence, but also of allowing the occupant to enjoy a direct and dynamic transition into nature – a difficult thing to achieve in the city – and gain quiet time to heal the fatigue built up throughout the week.

We’ve arranged the elevated site into three slabs.
Each has a main usage – roof terrace, main room, and outdoor living – and we aimed for a space where different activities can be enjoyed at different levels within the same building.
The three slabs are joined at the structure’s core, which is a long and slender 10m high stairwell, and this fills the role of physically connecting the slabs mutually while also functioning as a gravity ventilation device to create a comfortable and pleasant interior space.
Also, as the core acts as a buffer zone that joins each of the slabs, it drastically expands the space, creating more empty space in the mind.

On top of the underground area, of which acts as a high reinforced-concrete base to handle the slope of the sight, the structure features a wooden frame.
The wooden frame adopts a rectangular gate shape towards the area where a large opening is established to make a hybrid structure that implements traditional wooden construction methods.

The different-leveled slabs that have been established to gain both the view from the sloped land and the direct relationship with the earth – through gardening etc. – gain their functions from the scaled-out core that joins each of them, and together they form the one building.

A “weekend residence” differs from a vacation house or lodging facility in that it must also provide for a functional lifestyle.
As an answer to these needs, we’ve divided the separate purposes of use by the different slabs, arranging them independently, and have peacefully connected the slabs with the core that stretches out vertically and maintains environment control functions.
